The Arts District represents the most diverse neighborhood within Downtown Los Angeles. The Arts District is home to a major rail yard, cold storage, warehouses, food processing, furniture and fashion design/manufacturing, personal storage, government facilities, and film locations. It is also home to thousands of artists, and their live/work spaces that support creative entrepreneurial businesses and non-profits. The district is home to SCI-Arc, a prominent school of architecture, and eclectic retail shops and galleries. The District offers public safety, sidewalk maintenance, marketing, and administration/advocacy.
The mission of Carma is to measurably improve the health of poor and vulnerable women and children in Haiti. Carma effectively utilizes media and pop culture to create a platform of awareness, dialogue, and then action. Carma, an urban spin on karma, embodies the belief of cause and effect behavior or practices to affect the lives of others. First 5 LA is a unique child-advocacy organization created by California voters to invest tobacco tax revenues in programs for improving the lives of children in Los Angeles County, from prenatal through age 5. Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts MacArthur Park Los Angeles (LPMP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2007 to restore the historic band shell in MacArthur Park and present 50 summer concerts annually. Admission is always FREE, making live music and the arts accessible to all. The concerts feature a diverse lineup of artists from acclaimed, emerging talent to seasoned, award-winning performers. Programming is designed to appeal to all tastes, bringing people from all walks of life together to share an evening of great music. As music fills the park, so do families, friends, and Angelinos from all over the city creating community through music. Since 2007, over 85,000 people have gathered in MacArthur Park to picnic on the grassy lawn and enjoy music under the stars.
Established in 1996, LACEF is on the cutting edge of change in education policy through its efforts to bridge education and health and promote hands-on learning. Its launch of the Stay Well. Learn Well.® School Health Centers Initiative, an effort made possible by a grant from the Watts Health Foundation, demonstrates how schools and their school health center partners can improve attendance and promote better learning by making quality healthcare available to children, teens and their families. LACEF owns and operates Blue Sky Meadow ® in Big Bear, Southern California’s premier science and environment outdoor learning lab for children and teens located on a 183-acre site in the San Bernardino Mountains. Since 2003, more than 20,000 young people have taken overnight field trips to Blue Sky Meadow® to discover the wonders of science through hands-on learning activities at a mountaintop retreat that they rarely have an opportunity to experience.

There are 48,000 homeless people in Los Angeles. The Weingart Center Association gives homeless men and women the skills, tools, resources and hope they need to break the cycle of homelessness and lead self-sufficient lives.
